'Catching Fire': Jennifer Lawrence Can Shoot 'Hunger Games' Sequel In Fall Thanks To Fox

Jennifer Lawrence Officially Free To Shoot 'Catching Fire' In The Fall

"Catching Fire" will light up with Jennifer Lawrence back on set. Twentieth Century Fox has reportedly moved the start date for its "X-Men: First Class" sequel to January, meaning Lawrence will be free to shoot the "Hunger Games" sequel without issue.

THR reported last month that Fox and Lionsgate, the studio behind "The Hunger Games," were in a bit of a standoff regarding Lawrence. Though she only has a supporting role in the "X-Men" franchise as Mystique, her contract gives Fox the first right to her services -- even against "Hunger Games." Fox had initially wanted to begin its "X-Men: First Class" sequel in the fall, which conflicted with plans for "Catching Fire."

Thankfully for fans, that crisis was averted. Lawrence, for one, is probably stoked.

"I actually can't wait to go back," she told The Huffington Post about playing Katniss Everdeen in "Catching Fire." "It's a character I would love to revisit."

Of course, who she'll revisit Katniss for remains to be seen. "Games" director Gary Ross is in the middle of tense negotiations with the studio, and as of now there is no director attached. Expect some announcement soon, as "Catching Fire" is set to begin shooting in August or September. The film is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2013.
