Charles Barkley On Carmelo Trade: Doesn't Make Knicks Contenders

Barkley Weighs In On Melo Trade

Did you hear? Carmelo Anthony was traded from Denver to the New York Knicks on Monday night. So the New York is a contender now, right?

Charles Barkley doesn't think so.

The TNT analyst went on KJOX in Birmingham on Wednesday and talked about what he thinks about the Knicks after the trade.

"Well the trade don't make the Knicks a contender," Barkley said. "I still don't think they're one of the four best teams in the East. I don't think they can win a playoff series."

He went on to say that the trade will help the Knicks in the future.

"This might help them down the line, a master plan like Miami trying to get three monsters," he explained. "So they need another point guard."
