Chinanu Onuaku Shoots Underhanded Free Throws Like A First-Grader

It's actually called a "granny."

Image be damned. Chinanu Onuaku, a rookie for the Houston Rockets, flashed his childlike free throw form in a preseason game Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans in Beijing.

Video posted of Onuaku shooting underhanded understandably attracted a lot of attention.

Onuaku made both shots in the clip, so he must be doing something right.

Onuaku reportedly shot free throws so poorly his freshman college season at Louisville that he adopted the form made famous in the modern era by NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry, who had a career free throw percentage of nearly 90 percent. Onuaku improved from about 47 percent to 59 percent his sophomore year.

Sure, some call the shot a “granny,” but sometimes granny knows best.
