The lawyer of Chris "Birdman" Andersen released a statement to The Denver Post on Friday regarding the Denver Nuggets center's home being searched by police investigating Internet crimes against children.

"A female fan in 2010 mailed Mr. Andersen multiple letters and included several photos in which she was scantily clad. Chris and this woman communicated with each other and in 2011, this woman, who represented herself as 21 years of age, flew to Colorado, showing her required identification. After leaving Colorado, she became upset at his lack of interest. In 2012, she threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration."
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children seized property from Andersen's home on Thursday as part of the investigation. Sheriff's spokesman Ron Hanavan would not disclose any details of the case.
According to the Associated Press, the department has been investigating Andersen since February and it could take weeks.
Andersen has not been arrested or charged with a crime.
Andersen, 33, is in his tenth season in the NBA, seven of which he played in Denver. He was expelled from the NBA in 2006 for drug use and reinstated in 2008.
