'Bachelor' Host Chris Harrison Splits From Wife (UPDATED)

'Bachelor' Host Splits From Wife (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Harrison and Jones have confirmed the split, telling PEOPLE magazine in a joint statement: "Though we have made this incredibly difficult decision to separate, our love and mutual respect remain, and we look forward to sharing in the lives of our wonderful children."

In a case of brutal irony, "Bachelor" host Chris Harrison has now become a bachelor himself. In Touch magazine reports that the telegenic master of ceremonies on the hit ABC show has split from Gwen Jones, his wife of 19 years.

"They've been taking turns with their kids so they can both see them as much as possible," a source told the publication. "It has been really amicable, with no other parties involved, and Chris has been a total professional while filming 'The Bachelorette.'"

Perhaps it's because Harrison's nearly become synonymous with singledom? The 40-year-old has been host of "The Bachelor" since 2001 and also its franchise spinoffs, "Bachelor Pad" and "The Bachelorette," now filming its eight season with Emily Maynard.

No word on whether a Harrison-Jones reunion special may be broadcast live to fans.
