Chris Matthews' Plea With Viewers To Watch Him At 7 P.M. (VIDEO)

WATCH: Chris Matthews' Plea With Viewers

Chris Matthews closed out his Monday MSNBC show with a plea to viewers.

In light of the news that MSNBC decided to move Ed Schultz back to weekdays, Matthews' show "Hardball," which aired on weekdays at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., was cut to just one hour. Viewers would now have to watch Matthews live at 7:00 p.m., as Schultz would occupy the weekday 5:00 p.m. time slot beginning on August 26.

"I'd like to conclude the show with a big ask," Matthews said as he described how his show would only air at 7:00 p.m. "So what my big ask is that you adjust your evening ritual, and believe me I know it's a sweet time of day, to sharing company with me at 7:00 p.m. It will be our hour."

Matthews said that he knows the importance of asking, so he's taking his request directly to viewers. He said, "I'd really appreciate it if after all these years for you to share your time with me starting as soon as is possible for you at 7:00 p.m."
