Nope, Christian Bale Is Not Playing Batman In 'Batman v Superman'

Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne may have survived the big showdown in "The Dark Knight Rises," but he has no plans to pick up the cape once again. Certainly not in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

"But wait," you might be thinking, "Didn't we already know that? Wasn't Ben Affleck cast as the new Batman more than two years ago?"

The short answer is yes.

The long answer ... well, the long answer is slightly complicated. You see, a few weeks ago, fans started getting excited about this theory that Affleck's character isn't actually Bruce Wayne. Instead, the thinking goes, he's another comic book character named Deathstroke, who impersonates Batman. So in the movie, Bale -- aka The Real Bruce Wayne -- would pop up and set things straight. Or something. It's a weird theory.

Doesn't seem like that is going happen. A reporter from Entertainment Tonight asked Bale about the theory at the premiere of his new movie "The Big Short" this week, and he totally shot it down.

"I haven’t heard that. This is the first I’ve heard of it. I think it’s pretty clear that Ben [Affleck] is playing Batman now," Bale said.

The reporter asked for a definitive statement on the matter though, in case Bale's profession of ignorance left too much to the imagination. The actor's response? "No, it’s not happening."

Sounds pretty definitive to us.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" comes out March 25, 2016.
