City Golf Courses To Get Facelifts Under New Deal

Duffers are being promised better city golf courses under a new contract OKd Wednesday by the Chicago Park District board.

The six courses, two miniature golf courses and three driving ranges will get $5.5 million in improvements under a 15-year deal with Billy Casper Golf Management.

The courses are a popular target -- "they need a shave and a haircut," one golfing blogger wrote. Park board president Gery Chico agreed that, in the summer, "You can't tell the difference between the fairways and the rough" and complained of "greens with no grass.''
