Los Angeles is a beautiful city filled with sun, women, and the occasional celebrity or two, which makes it more than your average place.
From the notable; Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, Disneyland and the Getty Center, there's plenty to do in the most populated destination in the United States. Even with all these attractions, there's one place that seems to be getting all of the attention as of late, the Staples Center.
Since the Lakers have quickly fallen out of the positive spotlight and more into negativity behind the troublesome antics of Dwight Howard and coaching adjustments, the Clippers have stepped up. The Clippers are continuing to shock the league with their increased display of athletics from the frontcourt and dominating ball-movement and three-point shooting from the back-court.
With the disappointing defensive efforts behind Coach Mike D'Antoni and the Los Angeles Lakers, problems at the point guard position, and injury issues, a new team has emerged as the savior of the City of Angels.
Even though it's early, the Los Angeles Clippers have proven that they are an elite team in a competitive Western Conference and competitive western city. Until the 2011-2012 season, the Clippers have always been a team that has been looked over by the rest of the league, aside from the athletics of Blake Griffin. With the recent changes to the back-court and the rotation, the Clippers arguably have become the best team in basketball.
"Lob City," as they're lovingly called by their fans, has produced what may be one of the best offenses in the league. Not only are they top-ten in the NBA in scoring (8th, 102.2 ppg) but they also are top-five in assists-per-game as well (2nd, 23.6 apg). Additionally, the passing of the Clippers has turned the bench into the best backup rotation the league has to offer.
The Clippers made many off-season moves to turn into Los Angeles' new premiere team. The acquisitions of Matt Barnes, Lamar Odom, Grant Hill, Jamal Crawford, Ryan Hollins, Ronny Turiaf, and Willie Green has made the Clippers a completely different team. Also, with the return of former finals MVP Chauncey Billups, who sporadically comes in and out of the roster on injury, the team is menacing to face.
Defensively the Clippers are a top team in the NBA as well, holding their opponents to the fourth lowest scoring output in the league (4th, 92.1 ppg for opposition). They also hold the longest winning-streak in the NBA standing currently at 17 wins.
As all of the changes are playing perfectly into the hands of the Clippers, it makes fans wonder if it's time for Coach Vinny Del Negro to be mentioned as a "Coach of the Year" candidate. As long as the Clippers keep winning, the Western Conference title isn't too far off for the league's best record carriers.
