Trucker's Scarily Close Call Shows Just Why Stop Signs Must Be Obeyed

A "few seconds either way and the outcome could have been terrible,” he says.

Nail-biting dash cam video shows how the driver of a truck came within inches of smashing into a car whose driver had run a stop sign.

Firefighter Joe Strauss captured the extremely close call between the commercial tractor-trailer he was driving and another vehicle on the SR 281 highway in Ohio at 7:49 p.m. on May 30. ViralHog shared the clip online Friday.

This person did not stop or even slow down, they literally came inches from the front bumper of my 80,000 truck at 55mph,” Strauss, 50, wrote on Facebook.

”I saw them and started to slow, you can tell by the video a few seconds either way and the outcome could have been terrible,” he added.

Strauss told HuffPost it was nowadays “hard to judge” if people were stopping at the stop signs because of their habit of slowing down “at the last minute.”

“This is why when I hear people complaining about increased law enforcement patrol in our area I for one am happy,” he added on Facebook. “It does not matter if it is my fault or not, If this driver would have died, or possibly me, I (or my family) have to live with the outcome.”
