4 Tips To Help You Sleep Your Way To The Top In College

It's time for students to get the rest they need.

Far too many college students believe that the only way to balance academics, extracurriculars and a social life is to cut sleep out of the equation altogether. In reality, sleep is necessary to accomplish all of these things and more.

According to a 2014 study by the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, the negative effect of sleep deprivation on students' GPA is roughly equivalent to the effects of binge drinking and marijuana use. Sleep deprivation has also been linked to anxiety and mood disorders.

Lack of sleep can take a serious toll on students' health, mental wellness and academic performance. In the video above, Roxanne Prichard, a psychology professor and the scientific director of the Center For College Sleep, offers four easy tips for getting some shut-eye.
