Contaminated Meat Sent To San Francisco Restaurants

E. Coli-Contaminated Meat Distributed At SF Restaurants

On Tuesday, more than 375,000 pounds of ground beef was recalled at a Los Angeles company, Commercial Meat Co., due to possible E. coli contamination. And according to SFGate, that meat was distributed at Bay Area restaurants.

The Huffington Post reported that a U.S. Department of Agriculture found meat that tested positive for the bacteria during a routine inspection at the Southern California plant, prompting the recall. No illnesses have been reported.

The recall includes ground beef, ground beef patties, ground beef taco meat and ground beef chili produced between September 7 and October 6, and is stamped with the label EST. 4873, according to ABC. The meat was distributed throughout restaurants in Nevada and Northern California, including the Bay Area.

In a statement regarding the recall, the company said it recalled the meat "out of concern for the health of our customers and to uphold our commitment to provide safe, quality products."
