Las Vegas performer Criss Angel was rushed to a hospital after losing consciousness minutes into his show “Mindfreak Live!” on Friday, according to multiple reports.
Witnesses at the Luxor Hotel performance told TMZ that Angel was hanging upside down from his feet attempting to remove himself from a double straitjacket — a stunt he’s pulled off many times before — when the incident occurred. Angel was lowered down and rushed to Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center.
The Friday evening show was canceled, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In a statement to People, Angel’s rep confirmed that the illusionist was taken to a hospital, where he was discharged several hours later. The Friday evening incident caused Angel and son Johnny Crisstopher to miss an event for the Make-A-Wish foundation, but his intended $100,000 donation was made in his absence.
“He is undergoing additional testing today and while it is not yet certain, it is his hope to return to the stage,” the rep told People on Saturday. “He is grateful for the outpouring of love and concern from his fans around the world.”
Las Vegas-area reporter John Katsilometes wrote on Twitter Saturday that Angel’s show was going on as scheduled.
