Daddy Yankee Denies Being Gay: Latin Reggaeton Artist Reacts To Rumors About Sexual Orientation

Daddy Yankee Clarifies Sexual Orientation

After several online news sites assured reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee had publicly come out on Wednesday, the star completely denied the rumors.

Earlier that day, reports affirmed the Puerto Rican rapper had issued a statement from a gay nightclub where he allegedly admited he was gay, and talked about some compromising pictures that supposedly show him with another man.

The Huffington Post contacted Daddy Yankee’s manager who clarified the performer was just a victim of "defamation."

"Once again social networks are the protagonists in spreading false news, which have been replicated by other media involving a public figure. The story that is circulating about Daddy Yankee’s homosexuality declaration is a false story written by an Internet portal as many others, dedicated to fabricate and disseminate news through social networks,” said Helga García, president of Perfect Partners Public Relations.

Meanwhile, the singer also turned to his Twitter account to very diplomatically share a quote by Albert Einstein letting his fans know how he feels about the controversy.

"'I fear the day when technology exceeds our humanity the world will only have a generation of idiots,' Albert Einstein."

The star then continued to tweet, getting a bit more personal.

They've killed me, they've defamed me and they will continue to invent sh** about me online, but there is only one truth.

It is not the first time Daddy Yankee has had to face this type of comments. Last month, he used his social media accounts to address speculations about his sexuality.

“Once again, ignorance has come into play, the Internet is where lies become truths and the truth becomes myth,” he said on that occasion.

At the time, the artist also stated he by no means is critical of the gay community, and even have gay employees who he says he really respects as part of his work team.
