Dakota Fanning Ditches NYU Dorms, Refuses To Wear Sweatpants

Dakota Fanning is just one of the thousands of freshmen to enter New York University this fall, but she's not dealing with tiny dorm rooms or dramatic roommates.

Instead, the 17-year-old has moved into a luxury two-bedroom condo at the corner of Lafayette and Spring Streets, reports the New York Post. By ditching dorm life for a doorman building, the actress gets to call John Mayer and Keith Richard's daughter Theodora her neighbors.

And just because she's headed to college, don't expect her take on a sloppy style.

At the Marc Jacob's fashion week party, the actress and face of Jacob's latest fragrance, "Oh, Lola!" told People magazine, "If you ever catch me in sweatpants in class, that's not good. I've tried not to dress like that."

While most NYU students shun sweatpants in favor of more fashionable attire as well, Fanning told the magazine she knew moving to East coast would mean adjusting her fashion choices to the weather. “I knew to bring a lot of coats, and my Hunter rain boots," she said.
