David Arquette Looks Back On His Bar Mitzvah, Which He Had In Israel At Age 40

David Arquette Had A Bar Mitzvah In Israel At Age 40

Growing up, David Arquette wanted to have a Bar Mitzvah. But when his mom denied his request, dismissing it as him just wanting "presents," the "Scream" actor knew there was but one thing to do: organize a Bar Mitzvah himself, 27 years past the traditional Jewish age for one.

"It's funny, Israel is like -- Bar Mitzvah's are to [Israel as], 'ya know, wedding's [are to] Las Vegas," he told HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps in a Monday interview to promote "Cleaners," his new web series. "They make it very easy and convenient. I didn't have to study for a year."

The 42-year-old giggled as he relayed an anecdote about "all these random cats" who decided to join in on the festivities.

"This one guy keep lifting me up -- you know how they lift you up at the end, dance you around -- but this one guy just kept bear hugging me and lifting me up," he recalled. "The other guys were pulling him off, like 'don't lift him anymore!'"

So that's what a Bar Mitzvah at 40's like. Well, now we know.
