What This Mom Has Been Up To Since Her Memorable Makeunder On 'Oprah'

In 2010, Dawn Williams had a look that even she described as "pretty overdone." The outgoing 44-year-old mother of two had spent two decades perfecting her appearance, complete with breast implants, bleach-blonde hair extensions, a sparkling nose ring and thick layers of makeup -- which Williams always polished off with a smear of hot pink lipstick. While she says she felt sexy and comfortable with her revealing look, the Canadian mom from Alberta was willing to tone it down for the sake of her teenage children.

"I am a mother, first and foremost," Williams said back then. "I would really like for both my daughter and my son to be proud of me."

That's when fashion expert Carson Kressley joined up with "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to help Williams redefine her style. The big reveal was jaw-dropping, with Williams strutting on stage in a flattering wrap dress while sporting a sassy shoulder-length cut and beautiful, fresh-faced makeup.

A few years after that show, however, Williams admitted to "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" that she had mostly reverted back to her old look, saying that it made her feel "much happier" and more like herself. Now, Williams is opening up about some more major changes in her life, including a handful of extreme highs and lows.

In exciting news, Williams is now a married woman, having wed a man named Troy in an elaborate celebration in 2013. "[It] was, in my eyes, the most beautiful Cinderella wedding that anyone could have," Williams says.

The family, she adds, has also grown. "I have also adopted a son. His name is Johnny," she says.

Together with her family and close friends, Williams also celebrated a big milestone birthday. "I just turned 50, for crying out loud!" she says. "We went down to Cancun and had a fabulous time."

While these are certainly all things to celebrate, Williams also experienced a terrifying ordeal that landed her in the hospital fighting for her life.

"About a year ago, I had an accident," she says. "I was in Nashville, Tennessee, for my cousin's wedding. I fell down some stairs and ended up on life support."

Williams has since recovered, and says that the incident has given her an entirely new perspective on life, even with its many ups and downs.

"I have come to see life in a... more respectful way," she says. "We have just so little time here, and I'm just so very, very blessed that my life was saved."

"Oprah: Where Are They Now -- Extra" is a web-based spinoff of the OWN show "Oprah: Where Are They Now?", which airs on Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET.
