Five days after losing to NYC F.C. DC United faced off against the other New York team, as the Red Bulls came to town. Last season the Red Bulls won both games in New York, and tied the one in DC. Both sides started the day on 10 points, sitting in the middle of a tightly clustered Eastern conference, with the Red Bulls not having lost in their last 4 contests.

United started the game with the same players that started the loss on the previous Sunday.
