Jacksonville, Florida City Council candidate Kimberly Daniels is convinced that Halloween candy is blessed by witches and thus has demon-cream filling instead of marshmallow or caramel. Daniels, a Democrat, and Dominionist minister with her own radio show is facing a runoff against Republican David Taylor. Despite running as a Democrat, she prayed

for favor upon Senator McCain and Governor Palin;

announced

Even if someone gave me a billion dollars, I could not vote for Obama.

and prayed that President Obama will

break every soul tie and vow that has been established between him and Harvard, secret societies and the illuminati...

Along with believing

antichrist spirits rule in their arenas with programs such as The View and CNN News

Daniels is concerned about Halloween candy:

most of the candy sold during this season has been dedicated and prayed over by witches.

I do not buy candy during the Halloween season. Curses are sent through the tricks and treats of the innocent whether they get it by going door to door or by purchasing it from the local grocery store. The demons cannot tell the difference.

Okay there are plenty of Democrats who aren't fond of Obama, and plenty of people who have faiths that involve a huge willing suspension of disbelief: Space aliens blown up in volcanoes that now stick to our bodies; talking bushes; virgin births; flying donkeys; cargo cults; magic underwear, etc. I practice a faith that brings with it a cauldron-full of wtf, so it's not like I am picking on any one religion; they are all a little odd to outsiders, oh heck they are kinda weird and at times unbelievable to the people who practice them, too.

But Daniels' form of Christianity -- which believes there are demons everywhere from the corner store to the Capitol that must be exorcised by a "strongman," which believes that only her version of Christianity is acceptable to rule the country if not the world -- may not make her the best choice for any elected office. Especially when coupled with this statement:

I thank God for slavery. Mmm. I thank God for the crack house. If it wasn't for the crack house, come on somebody, God wouldn't a never been able to use me how he can use me know. And if it wasn't for slavery I might be somewhere in Africa worshiping a tree!

And you can talk about the Holocaust, but the Jews own everything! We go through some things, but let me tell you something - when you go through you qualify to get paid back. You don't need the government to give it back, God'll give it back.

Jacksonville deserves better than Kimberly Daniels. Politics and both parties deserve better than Kimberly Daniels. And certainly, Christianity deserves better, too.
