Denver Sheriff's Deputy Shot While Serving A Warrant, Suspect Killed

Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves Suspect Dead

Two sheriff's deputies were serving a warrant in northeast Denver Wednesday morning when a woman came to the door with a gun.

The woman, who was the suspect police say they had been looking for, shot one deputy in the hand before his partner fatally shot her near the intersection of West Court Place and Park Avenue West at a Denver Housing Authority property.

Officers say they were serving an arrest warrant for "family issues," and witnesses told 7News that they heard children screaming during the incident. No ages of the children have been released and though they were reportedly not injured in the shooting, they were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The officer who was shot in the hand is listed in fair condition with non life-threatening injuries and the shooter's name is being witheld until authorities notify her next of kin.

This is a developing story...
