Detroit Food Truck Rally, 'Dine And Drive In The D,' Returns To New Center

Lunch On The Move

Cancel your Friday lunch plans and get ready for a meal on the move: food trucks are descending (yet again) on Detroit.

Detroit's third "Dine and Drive in the D" food truck rally returns from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on July 27. Half a dozen restaurants on wheels will set up a shop at a spot on Third Street between Lothrop Road and West Grand Blvd.

Diners will have several options to choose from, whether potato goodies at the People's Pierogi Collective, American favorites from Ned's TravelBurger or the Mac Shack, lighter fare from Green Zebra or eclectic offerings from Concrete Cuisine, which currently has whole turkey legs on the menu.. Or, skip lunch altogether and get ice cream from Treat Dreams.

The first Dine and Drive in the D, which is organized by the Farbman Group and the Michigan Mobile Food Vendors Association. took place in May. At the time, Christina DiBartolomeo, asset manager for Farbman, said they hoped to make it a recurring event.

"We see it as a ... fun way to bring attention to the area and to get people thinking about how food trucks can be part of the daily culture [in Detroit] like they are in other cities," she said.
