We've seen Dianna Agron sing, dance, and throw slushies on "Glee" as Quinn Fabary, but we didn't know that the Georgia-bred actress is also a visual artist in her own right. In her spare time, Dianna paints and takes photographs, and she's working on getting her screenplay made into a feature film. Nintendo's interactive Art Academy game, which teaches real-life art techniques using a stylus and touch-screen based tools, is a perfect outlet for Dianna's creative pursuits -- so it's fitting that she's fronting the campaign. We spoke to Dianna about her return to "Glee" for the Thanksgiving episode (airing Nov. 29) and dreams of starring in a Broadway show.
What motivated you to join Nintendo's "Play As You Are" campaign and promote the Art Academy game for 3DS?
"It ties into my artistic side. Through the game 'Art Academy,' you can receive art lessons. I want to encourage artists at any age to get inspired, and with a game like this, you can literally be anywhere and learn the same things that you would learn in an art class. It's a great tool. I grew up playing Nintendo with my brother, and it's a game that feels similar to the games we used to play -- except our systems were black and white! This one's in 3-D -- technology is crazy!"
Besides singing and acting, in what ways do you express your artistic side?
"Painting, drawing -- I'm really into photography, I've done it since high school. I'm writing a lot, and I just finished a script that we're moving forward with and going to potentially shoot next year."
What's the script about?
"Growing up and being a girl in this century—what that looks like. I don't want to say too much!"
Any advice for aspiring writers?
"What's great is that starting a blog can get you lot of attention for your writing. But it doesn't have to be for anybody other than yourself."
Do you plan on recording an album?
"Singing has definitely become something that I've devoted more and more time to -- and I'd love to do a Broadway musical."
We heard that you're returning to "Glee." When will we see back you on the show?
"I'll be on the Thanksgiving episode. You'll see the interaction between my character and the other characters that graduated, and the new kids that are trying to take on their legacy. Quinn is having a great time at Yale -- almost too great. There's this scene where she doesn't even realize how much she's rubbing it into Santana. It's quite comical. She's a little in over her head without even realizing it."
How did it feel to be back on set?
"Amazing. They're my family; we spent four years together non-stop. There's no better feeling."
