It's a good day when I remember to put my boobs back in my bra after nursing Elora. Needless to say, with all the moving stress, anyone lucky enough to ring our doorbell midafternoon, may be greeted with my "1960's burn your bras" ensemble. The fact our UPS packages have been making it all the way to our front door lately, is no coincidence, I assure you.

The last nine weeks have been busy. Along with our regular routines, our home is also on the market and the requirement of a spotless home at all times can seem like a fruitless attempt at best. As you can see in the picture below, this is the little one "helping" me pack.

I don't want the kids to see me sweat it so I'm going to fake it until I make it. If I remain cool, they will be cool. Sure, I could meditate, do some yoga, take a few cleansing breaths, all wonderful coping tools. Unfortunately, this mamma doesn't have time for all of that, so a stiff cocktail it is. As a former therapist I don't recommend drinking daily as a regular coping mechanism but hey, I'm a cook now, so bottoms up baby.

What is a "Dirty" Bloody Mary anyways? There appears to be no official defining ingredient(s) deeming one Bloody Mary "dirty" over another. Some recipes call for a splash of olive juice, some call for pickle juice, while others simply up the ante in spice. Well folks, I combined a bit of each and added a slice of bacon, making this lovely libation so dirty, you will blush at first sip. Earthy, comforting and a spice strong enough to slap you senseless, this is my new go-to indulgence.

Cheers!

Title: Dirty Bloody Mary
Author: Doughmamma
Prep time: 5 mins
Total time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
Notes: Stick with tomato juice rather than V8 or Clamato. Tomato juice allows you to add your own flavor profile, creating a fresh farmers market taste. I like a lot of heat, if you prefer a more mild beverage, 3 drops of Tobasco per drink is recommended. Just as Sriracha and Tapitio sauces are not interchangeable, neither is Tobasco sauce when it comes to making a good Bloody Mary.
Ingredients
4 oz of Tomato juice
½ tsp of Worcestershire Sauce
2 lime wedges (plus more for garnish)
1 lemon wedge (plus more for garnish)
7 drops of Tobasco sauce (check notes to adjust heat)
Pinch of freshly ground pepper
1 Tbsp of prepared horseradish (Bubbies' brand is great)
½ tsp of olive juice (green olive juice)
½ tsp of pickle juice
1-2oz of Vodka
Garnish
1 slice of bacon
3 olives
1 red hot pepper
1 Gherkin pickle
1 slice of spicy salami folded
Lime salt
1 toothpick or skewer
Instructions
Pour your tomato juice in your shaker. Add the Worcestershire sauce, squeezed lime juice, squeezed lemon juice, Tobasco sauce, pepper, horseradish, olive juice, pickle juice and vodka. Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously.

Take about ⅛ cup of salt (you will have left overs) and place in a wide and shallow bowl. Zest the skin of one lime and mix into salt. Now, take your tall glass, wet the rim with a lime wedge and dip the top into the salt. Now turn right-side-up.2016-05-08-1462726854-3959479-IMG_3827.JPG

Carefully pour your shaker mixture into your glass, being careful not to knock the salt off. Carefully add ice. Top with garnish.

Enjoy!
