These Doc Impact Award-Winning Films Will Make You Want To Change The World

Five documentaries that push for social change.

Yes, there are documentaries out there that are not "Making a Murderer" and some of them even contribute to a greater social good. Hold your shock and applause.

The Doc Impact Award honors documentaries that move conversations about some of the most important issues of our time -- climate change, security and privacy, food justice and human rights abuses -- forward by harnessing the immense power of the medium.

The films selected this year all speak to the tremendous diversity of storytelling that not only captures the attention of the viewer, but also compels them to enact change in their own backyard.

Here are 2016's winning documentaries:

"Chasing Ice"

"Citizenfour"

"Food Chains"

"Miners Shot Down"

"Virunga"
