'Downton Abbey' Season 4 Will Feature Virginia Woolf

Who's Coming To 'Downton'?

"Downton Abbey" has surprised us more than a few times with its notoriously shocking twists. Season 3 ended in heartbreak, as Matthew Crawley died during after a car accident, shortly after Lady Mary gave birth to their son.

We know you probably still miss Matthew, but there's much to look forward to in Season 4. For starters, Mary has a slew of eligible, handsome suitors. Perhaps more interestingly, Season 4 will be the first time "Downton" has featured real historical characters.

Dame Nellie Melba, an Australian opera singer, will be played by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, an actual opera singer who performed at Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding. Classic author Virginia Woolf will also make an appearance, played by Christina Carty. RadioTimes predicts that Edith, the budding journalist of the family, will be the one rubbing shoulders with the writer.

Although best known for her fiction, Woolf began her career as a journalist, writing for the Times Literary Supplement. She also launched publishing house Hogarth Press with her husband, Leonard Woolf, in 1917.

We can't wait to see what the show has in store for her!
