Downtown Detroit Shooting: Shooter Fires Into Crowd Killing 22-Year-Old Man, Wounding Two Others

Memorial Day Shooting Kills One, Injures Two In Detroit

An assailant shot into a crowd near the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit Monday night, killing a 22-year-old man and injuring two others.

The outdoor shooting occurred at St. Antoine and Woodbridge Streets at 10:45 p.m., not far from the annual Movement electronic music festival at Hart Plaza.

Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens told the Free Press that the shooting was not connected to the event.

The police department does not yet have a description of the shooter.

The three victims were young black males. The two survivors were taken to a local hospital. One of those men, age 20, is in stable condition. The other, age 21, is classified as temporary serious.
