The men's basketball program at Duke didn't become one of the most reviled and successful in the nation by not winning plenty of big games. Since taking over as head coach in Durham for the 1980-1981 season, Mike Krzyzewski has turned Duke into a perennial contender and cut down the nets after four national championships

Perhaps most importantly to fans in Durham, however, Coach K shifted the balance of power along Tobacco Road.

While those hundreds of wins at Duke and all those titles are certainly nice, some fans of the Blue Devils will always savor the wins over intra-state rival North Carolina the most. Featuring standout performances by famed -- or infamous, if you're watching from Chapel Hill -- Dukies from Shane Battier to Austin Rivers, here are seven memorable wins that Coach K's club has scored over the Tar Heels.

Austin Rivers' Dagger
With UNC holding a two-point lead in front of thousands fans in powder-blue at the Dean Dome on February 8, 2012, Duke's Austin Rivers knocked down a game-winning, buzzer-beating 3-pointer over center Tyler Zeller. The Blue Devils won 85-84.
The Banks Shot
Duke trailed No. 11 North Carolina by two points with just one second remaining in the second half on February 28, 1981. As time expired, Gene Banks sent the game into overtime and Cameron Indoor Stadium into a frenzy with a turnaround jumper. Duke went on to win 66-65 in the extra period.
Duhon Ruins Roy's Return
Roy Williams officially re-joined this Tobacco Road rivalry on February 4, 2004. In his first game against Duke as the head coach of North Carolina, Williams seemed on the verge of scoring a major upset. Duke point guard Chris Duhon made sure he didn't. In the final seconds of overtime, Duhon beat every Tar Heels player down the court as he went coast to coast for a game-winning layup.
Battier Batters The Heels
Shane Battier sparked Duke in the second half of the rivals' 2001 regular-season finale with an incredible chase-down block. His 25 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks on March 4, 2001 helped Duke win its third straight game IN Chapel Hill.
No. 500
Coach K earned his 500th career win in grand style. Duke earned the milestone win and locked up an ACC regular-season title with a dramatic comeback victory over UNC on February 28, 1998. The Blue Devils trailed 64-47 but rallied to win 77-75 at Cameron Indoor. The game ended in especially heartbreaking fashion for UNC with several missed free throws.
Top 10 Instant Classic
The No. 9 Blue Devils sent the No. 2 Tar Heels fans home disappointed after pulling off a 70-69 victory in Chapel Hill on January 21, 1988.
Tournament Blowout
