Dying is hard but hospital beds are fun!
From Connie Lawn September, 2016

Hello friends and family. Thanks to your love, patience, and excellent care from my husband, doctors, nurses, Capitol Caring Hospice, and prayers - I am still here. That is a blessing, but I earn every minute of it.
The Parkinsons' Plus continues to eat away at my brain and body, and the undefined plus is winning. I thought I would still be skiing, horseback riding, swimming, and be vital at this age of 72. Instead, I can barely have the strength to walk, write, or broadcast. Thank God for the radio networks and blogs which still use me. Thankfully, I can still stumble to the White House, which I have covered for 50 years. People are appalled at my looks - I have lost 50 pounds and resemble my Grandmother.
While people look at me differently since I am disabled, they are also very nice. The Secret Service officers at the White House help me maneuver my walker through the gates, and they often walk me down the long driveway. Recently, two sharp shooters walked me into the Press Room. They were quite a sight with their black uniforms and long anti aircraft guns. My friends applauded!
Everyone knows my time is limited, but we all have something. Several of my friends have already died, and some have died quickly through disease or accidents. They did not have the long time to prepare, which God has given to me. Still, everyone should live life as if this is their last day.
I want to give special thanks to Capitol Caring, which gives me in-home Hospice care. At different times, they send in nurses, doctors, personal care assistants, social workers, and chaplains. They help me with medicines and medical equipment. Thank God for medical insurance.
I am still fighting with my hospital bed. Often I hit the wrong button, and nearly crunch myself in two! I guess I can have some fun with the bed, if I can figure out the controls!
People tell me I inspire them, and I hope that is true. Many are still reading my book - "You Wake Me Each Morning - the Final Chapter." I love it when friends tell me they went to bed with me recently, or took me to the toilet with them! If they flush it, they can get another copy on line!
Friends, keep praying, reading, writing, and enjoying life. I hope I can write to you again!
Love, ConnieLawn@aol.com
