LOOK: Tracing The Trail Of Ebola In Africa

For the first time since 1994, the Ebola virus has surfaced in west Africa, thousands of miles away from the most recent outbreaks in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. At least 63 people have died, and dozens more have been infected in Guinea (though Ebola has only been confirmed in 13 of the deaths). Authorities are working to prevent the spread of the severe viral hemorrhagic fever -- recently saying that they've contained the spread of the virus to the southeast part of the country -- and have banned the sale and consumption of bats, the virus' possible natural host. Scientists believe that the deadly Zaire strain is responsible for the outbreak. It can be up to 90 percent fatal.
