Emilia Graciela Bell, Store Clerk, Allegedly Spanked 'Demon' Boy, Logan Ivey, Who Wasn't Her Son

Dollar Store Clerk Whips 'Demon' Boy, Who Wasn't Her Son

A Wrightsville, Ga. dollar-store clerk allegedly spanked a misbehaving boy with her belt -- and he wasn't even her child.

Emilia Graciela Bell, 39, was charged with simple battery on Thursday for whipping 8-year-old Logan Ivey on the back as many as 25 times because he threw a cookie at her, according to CBS affiliate WMAZ-TV.

Wrightsville Police Chief Paul Sterling responded to the scene when Ivey's father, who was not at the store, called to say his son had been spanked by a worker. Ivey's mother and sister were there but did not witness the attack.

Sterling said the surveillance video, which was not released, captured everything -- so much so that Sterling plans to upgrade Bell's charges to aggravated assault.

The 8-year-old told WMAZ that he was running around the store when Bell tried to stop him and began calling him a demon. Ivey responded with, "I'll show you bad," before throwing a cookie at her. Bell chased him behind a counter and allegedly began striking him with her belt on his back.

"It felt like five needles were sticking in me," Ivey told WMAZ. "I was screaming, 'Momma.'"

"I wish everyone could see the video," said Jody Ivey, Logan's dad. "It shows how many times she really hit him and how bad it was."

Bell was thrown in jail and released on bond Friday morning.
