Eminem is back in the studio working on a new solo album. That's welcome news to fans of his solo work, as he had been primarily preoccupied with Slaughterhouse projects.
That supergroup featuring Joe Budden (man, remember "Pump It Up"?), Joell Ortiz, Royce da 5'9" and Crooked I, is releasing Welcome To: Our House on August 28th. The album is Slaughterhouse's second.
But Slim Shady told MTV and Shade 45's Sway that he's not going to rest for long. "I've actually kinda just started," he said. "I've been on the move a little bit too, so I've, in between things, [snuck] songs in here and there."
At a Thursday night concert in New York, he thanked his fans for helping him get through depression.
He also recently topped Rihanna and Lady Gaga to become the musician with the most Facebook fans (60 million) and lined up a feature on Pink's next album (yep, it's called "Here Comes The Weekend").
The once-controversial rapper's last album was 2010's Recovery, which easily topped the charts and moved an impressive 741,000 copies in its first week, buoyed by singles like "Love the Way You Lie." That song, which featured Rihanna, grew more popular when the music video was released, mostly because Megan Fox plays a spousal abuse victim. Fox donated her payments from the video to a shelter for victims of abuse.
"Not Afraid," another single off Recovery, also enjoyed massive radio airplay. The inspirational album showcased a different Eminem than fans of his earliest work will remember. It remains to be seen what tone will underscore his next effort.
