Forbes '30 Under 30' List Recognizes Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen

Forbes Names Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen To '30 Under 30' List

If there had been a "2 Under 2" list, they would have been on it.

But 23 years later, Mary-Kate and Ashley are still trucking along and still racking up the accolades. This week the pint-sized pair earned themselves a spot on Forbes' "30 Under 30" List in the Art & Design category, recognized for their fashion achievements.

Forbes describes its 30 honorees as "the people who aren't waiting to reinvent the world," and it is true that Mary-Kate and Ashley have waited for nothing. They've been working since they were six months old and started in fashion with a Walmart line in 2001 (clearly they've set their sights a bit higher since then).

Forbes names The Row, Elizabeth and James, the J.C. Penney-sold Olsenboye and t-shirt website StyleMint as the twins' notable fashion ventures -- although it's a shame they didn't get more particular. Recognizing the twins as designers is coming a bit late to the party (the twins got their big "look, now they're fashion designers!" profile in the New York Times back in 2009).

So we'd venture to say that this year, the fashion phenoms' accomplishments were a bit more specific -- namely, creating surprisingly funny and unpretentious viral videos for their StyleMint tees and managing to sell out a line of $35,000 bags.

Because if getting people to buy $35,000 bags isn't reinventing the world, we don't know what it.
