Ft. Bragg Soldiers Donate Toys, Win Chance To Jump From Planes

Soldiers 'Jump' At Chance To Donate Toys

Donating a toy action figure and mimicking one is a long-standing tradition for soldiers in North Carolina.

Fourteen years ago, Ft. Bragg began its tradition of encouraging soldiers to donate toys to kids in need, in exchange for entering a lotter to win a chance to jump from a plane, reports NBC 17. The daredevil servicemen line up as early as 2 a.m., with gift in hand, and hope for the best.

"As an Eagle Scout I've done this kind of thing before where I went out on a toy drive, so I think it's really important so that everyone can have a Christmas," Spec. Jonathan Maten told ABC 11.

Three hundred lucky entrants were chosen, and they're set to take flight on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at the Sicily Drop Zone.
