Gabourey Sidibe Is 'Precious': The Network Television Premiere

FIRST LOOK! The Network Television Premiere Of 'Precious'

In New York City's Harlem circa 1987, an overweight, abused, illiterate teen who is pregnant with her second child is invited to enroll in an alternative school in hopes that her life can head in a new direction. 'Precious' is the two-time Oscar®-winning film that deeply moved Oprah and left her breathless. "When I first saw the movie... I was so deeply moved, I immediately called up the director, Lee Daniels, and told him that it just split me wide open," Oprah said.

In her O Magazine review of the film, Jessica Winter wrote, "Audacious and astonishing, 'Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire' proves the truism that movies can take us places we never imagined. In this case, it's a hellish corner of 1980s Harlem, but it's also the fantasy realm where 16-year-old Precious... escapes from a world that punishes her for merely existing."

Tune in to OWN tonight, November 9, at 8/7C to watch the network television premiere of "Precious," starring Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique.
