A Guide To Gay Culture Shame, Courtesy Of 'The Meeting' Star Justin Sayre

What's Gone Wrong With 'Gay Culture' These Days?

In his latest video clip for HuffPost Gay Voices, writer-actor Justin Sayre sounds off on what he describes as "bottom-of-the-barrel" staples of gay culture, like the "Real Housewives" reality franchise and 1990s nostalgia.

"You used to be the arbiters of style," Sayre proclaims in the clip, shot at a recent installment of his variety show, "The Meeting," which is slated to play Los Angeles on July 25 and 26. "Does anybody in this room know who Balenciaga was? No!"

True to form, his cultural observations are both irreverent and hilarious.

Sayre's "International Order of Sodomites" (I.O.S.) gathers once a month for "The Meeting," honoring an artist or a cultural work that is iconic to the gay community. Previous editions have been dedicated to Cher, Karen Carpenter and Stephen King's "Carrie."

Sayre returns to the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles on July 25 and 26. Head here for details.
