Exploring The Taboo Of Being A Gay Surfer

What's It Really Like To Be A Gay Surfer?

A compelling new mini-documentary feature from Australia asks what is it really like to be an openly gay male surfer?

"Caught Inside: The Taboo Of Being A Gay Surfer" hopes to break down the taboo of homosexuality in surfing through the eyes of three Aussie surfers. The special comes from The Feed, a news and current affairs show televised nightly down under.

"The word faggot has been a derogatory term for I guess what we [in the surfing world] would call a loser," one surfer in the above video notes. "It's sad, in a sense, because where it's come from is calling gay people losers."
