George Steinbrenner Death Prompts City Hall To Lower Flags To Half-Staff

The flags at City Hall have been lowered to honor Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.

Soon after news broke that the legendary figure had died from a massive heart attack, the Mayor's office tweeted:

We're lowering the flags in City Hall Plaza in honor of George Steinbrenner - a man who raised 7 championship flags at Yankee Stadium

Bloomberg himself said that Steinbrenner leaves "in the only way that would be appropriate: as a reigning world champion."

Meanwhile fans braving the wet weather have begun to gather at Yankee stadium, paying their respects and honoring "The Boss" with flowers.
