Giants, Athletics Fans Reportedly Fight At O.co Coliseum (VIDEO)

Another Fan Fight Breaks Out At MLB Game

The disdain between fans of intra-state rival teams in California seems to have boiled over yet again. According to the description of the YouTube video above, the interleague Bay Battle between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics turned into an actual battle between fans at O.co Coliseum. The fracas reportedly began when an Athletics fan poured beer on a female Giants fan.

The YouTube description says a group of San Francisco fans accompanying the female approached the A's fan and a fight quickly broke out. The ugly scene resulted in one of the men being thrown to the ground and kicked, while several people in the area screamed. Police didn't appear to intervene until the very end of the video.

Whenever a video like the one above get uploaded, it can be hard not to think of Bryan Stow, the Giants fan who was critically beaten outside Dodger Stadium on Opening Day last season.

Although the attack against Stow is perhaps the most notable recent act of fan violence it his hardly the only one. Just in Northern California there are have been several incidents in recent months.

Fans of the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders brawled in the stands at Candlestick Park during a preseason game last year, while another fight was reported to occur in the restroom. Two fans were shot and wounded in the parking lot after the exhibition had ended.

As a result, the 49ers banned tailgating at the stadium after games start. Mayor Ed Lee and San Francisco police also had police set up DUI checkpoints near the stadium for after games.
