Gorge de Coaticook Park Is A Real-Life Fairytale, Thanks To Hundreds Of Lights

Turns out fairytales ARE real after all.

By day, Gorge de Coaticook is one of Quebec's most precious nature parks with the one of the longest suspended footbridges in the world.

But by night, the forest turns into a surreal wonderland of fairytale proportions. At a special attraction known as Foresta Lumina, visitors journey through the forest in total darkness, guided only by thousands of tiny lights. Video-projected creatures pop up all around, and an original soundtrack echoes off the trees, making the whole scene feel like a live-action fairytale.

The special Foresta Lumina event runs from mid-May through mid-October. You'll buy tickets and wander through a lantern-lit portal before taking on the forest in all its wonder.

Quebec forest mythology is the basis for the park -- along the walk, you'll encounter "fairies," "devils" and "creatures of the forest," illuminated with an otherworldly glow. At more than a mile in length, the walk takes anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours, all of which promises to be utterly magical.
