'Grey's Anatomy': Ellen Pompeo On Fan Questions And The Most Rewarding Thing About The Show (VIDEO)

Ellen Pompeo Talks The Future Of 'Grey's'

Now in its eighth season, "Grey's Anatomy" has explored many mind-blowing medical cases and just as many romantic possibilities for the doctors at Seattle Grace. But what has been the most rewarding thing about the show for Grey herself, Ellen Pompeo?

I sat down with Pompeo on the set of "Grey's" to talk about the show's unbelievably supportive fans and how, if they continue to tune in the way they always have, this show could easily last 10 more seasons. "A lot of people say that. Personally I think that sounds a bit arrogant ... to assume that people will tune in for 10 years," Pompeo said. "[But] for as long as we have them tuning in, I'm very grateful to them for that."

We also talked about playing a mom on TV versus being a mom in real life, and why her daughter Stella -- who comes to set quite often -- never comes by on days when baby Zola is there. "I don't think she would be too happy about mama holding other babies. [Laughs.] She would not go for it! She is a one mama type of baby."

Pompeo also answered some very pressing "Grey's" questions ... like how long does it take to build a dream house these days anyway? And why can't she and Derek and Zola finally get their house to themselves, without any roommates?
