So Owen and Amelia break up sort of. Richard and Catherine duke it out and end up in love again. Some guy's penis gets cut off and the residents save the day. But that's not important because where is Derek!?
This is very, very bad. First, they show the first ever "Grey's Anatomy" before the real episode. The first episode is basically all about Meredith getting drunk, sleeping with McDreamy and then finding out he's one of her bosses. Then the new episode opens with them in love. So much in love. Whenever someone is happy on a Shonda Rhimes show, you should worry. So. Happy.
He leaves for D.C., with an ominous "wait for me." Then at the very, very end, in true Rhimes fashion, the President's office calls because he missed the meeting he was supposed to be at. Meredith pretends she's not worried but the last close up of is the paper she scribbled "Derek?" on. She's getting all twisty already. And the next episode is called "One Flight Down." What is his private D.C. plane (because if it was a commercial airliner, they'd know about a crash right?) went down? What if it went all Malaysia airlines on us? Where is he? Maybe it's not a plane crash. Maybe he ran off with his fellow. But then why would he be so happy and cuddly with Meredith just before leaving? He's not that cruel. Or is he?
In any case, Twitter is freaking out. And some of you are making jokes, but it's not funny! Some of the best theories:
