Grow Bigger, Quicker & Conserve Resources

Finally, LED Grow Lights that Compare to and Go Beyond Traditional HIDs... Now the best LED Grow Lights have become game changers that harvest just as heavy and heady, harvest sooner, and truly replicate sunlight indoors - only much, much cooler.

There are multiple problems with current grow room lighting, from not being environmentally friendly to bulbs frequently needing to be replaced; more is spent on electricity, additional equipment and there are higher costs associated with venting, cooling and circulating air. Current traditional lighting is also quite simply a strain on the power grid.

Over the last decade the question the indoor horticulture lighting industry had to ask themselves was, “Can we do better?” and the good news was the resounding answer, “YES!” and improve they did. We’ve even gotten to the point where LEDs have found solutions to most all current traditional forms of grow lights, specifically HID, HPS and most certainly fluorescents.

Over a long term grow, savings pile up while grows themselves improve just as much in both quality and yield. The advancements in light spectrum and UV boosters alone have anecdotally contributed to some of the heaviest resin productions many high scale growers have ever harvested - and have been scarcely able to believe outside of the fact that they did it.

Stigmas are broken. The canopy is now penetrated. Indoor grow cycles go full cycle and finish up to two weeks faster. Density of colas has increased and certain strains are showing their strongest potential with LEDs. Which also brings us to the downside of LEDs: most cannabis strains have been bred over the last several decades to grow best under full spectrum white light. They’ve been trained and not all respond immediately to the full LED spectrum of lights. Maybe new strains will develop, maybe through trial and error the best strains will naturally rise to the top, but we want better, now, so what’s the solution? It isn’t an easy answer to begin with, but becomes clear in the blues, reds, full spectrum white and infrared of LEDs.

LEDs have come a very long way since first being introduced. There is an apt comparison between LED lighting’s progression and Moore’s Law. Moore’s Law has successfully predicted that the number of components in an integrated circuit would double every year. That rate of progression is astounding and is the reason why our supercomputers are what they are. The same basic principle is happening now in the LED industry, but it’s been happening and we are finally in that sweet spot where LED grow lights not only compare to, but in many cases outperform traditional grow lighting. Some growers are even using them in conjunction with traditional High Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide based lighting to improve potency and maximize yield. The extra resin production in certain plants has been credited to the BloomBoss UV-Boss switch.

As LEDs keep on an upward trajectory, BloomBoss is proud to be at the forefront of the latest and greatest. As light emitting diodes are making the next grand leap from five watts to 10, we want to see what that really means. How much excess heat will it bring and what numbers and combinations of three, five and 10 watt chips will give plants the exact wavelengths they crave? We want to know and we’ll find out and produce the best.

BloomBoss believes that we have the best balance of the best available technology right now and will continue to improve as does the industry, but we don’t cut corners. We are already making BloomBoss FUSION Pro 1000 and 1800 model grow lights that effectively replace HID lighting and have comparable, heavy and sticky yields. The TrueSun Smart Spectrum combination of red, blue, full spectrum white and infrared chips, plus the UV-Boss switch means direct spectrum control, increased resin production and cleaner, better looking and better tasting end products.

Aside from output, all of these increases come with decreases in carbon footprint. Less heat generated means less equipment and even less water usage. You can definitely expect a decreased energy bill and because the plants are nourished with the exact penetrating lightwaves needed, fewer nutrients needed is another BloomBoss LED benefit. There are other LED companies doing their best as well and the facts of the matter are catching up. Black Dog LED and Fluence (formally BML) LED lights are just a couple other examples of other companies producing high quality LED grow lights.

I wouldn’t have believed any of it myself a year ago. And it took months of research and finally a light of my own for me to become a convert, but you know what they say about converts, and I have seen with my own eyes, tasted with my own mouth and experienced with my whole being the difference this light makes with flowers, produce, herbs, vegetables and every plant I’ve seen so far, especially cannabis in legal states on BloomBoss’ Instagram. The plants pray, they reach for the sky and turn the healthiest shades with the heartiest root systems. And because it’s a clean light, if you use organic or veganic nutrients, you’re producing the cleanest medicines, herbs, foods and flowers possible.

The first major step in my conversion to LED grow lights was writing an unbiased 25 page case study matching the BloomBoss FUSION Pro 1800 (pictured above) with Kyle Kushman’s Vegamatrix nutrients. An experienced grower of decades had been experimenting in a corner of his grow space with different LED lights, looking for the one that could finally compete with his horde of HIDs. He’d tried a few different companies before BloomBoss, so went in about as skeptical as I did as a freelance writer. Long story short, on his first grow with this particular light, his ROI was slightly higher, he harvested two weeks earlier (time is definitely money in the cannabis industry), he cut back on equipment and by the end of the study he found what he referred to as treasure. He swapped out the HID lights, all of them, for BloomBoss grow lights of varying sizes and it’s a grow room happy ending.

But it’s also a happy beginning. We’ve literally been given a reinvention of the light bulb. A new way to grow plants from urban gardening to cannabis cultivation that will do so much repair and spare of the grid. And it’s not even that it’s new, it’s not, it’s just finally had Moore’s law catch it up to the future. The stigma has outgrown itself when the lights are built correctly and we’ve proven it can be done just so! And we don’t skimp on the lights in any way, shape or form. We stand behind our product and guarantee its high standard of quality. Some stigma still sticks around and part of it is that people need to experience it or know someone else who has to take such a leap. Another part of it, though, is that some companies still overpromise what they can deliver. For example, a leading LED light company claims it has a proprietary mix of three and five watt chips. We took it apart to have a look and less than 20% of the diodes were actually five watts. Most were the lower cost three watt chips that are unable to penetrate the canopy nearly as well as the higher intensity five watt chips.

But back to the happy side of LED lights; if you go to Instagram and type in #BloomBoss, you’ll find hundreds of hearty grow pics to satiate your curiosity. BloomBoss has built and is building a social community that’s based on love of growing, respect for one another, a supportive environment and, of course, the best selling space of LED grow lights on the market. I didn’t write the company’s cheesy mottto, “Plants Don’t Lie,” but I honestly wish I had. It’s the perfect motto for BloomBoss, which is one of the best companies out there that is more than capable of letting results speak for themselves.

**Disclaimer: I am a freelance writer, editor, consultant and social media manager for BloomBoss at this point, but that’s not why I wrote the blog, and I was not compensated for writing said blog. I wrote this blog because of the knowledge I’ve gained over the past year, because of a 25 page case study that I wrote at the beginning of my time with BloomBoss (which started my love affair with these LEDs) and because this company is absolutely on the cutting edge of industry lighting technology and capable of making a substantial change to the energy grid and to how resources are consumed.
