George Barisich, Gulf Coast Fisherman, Criticizes BP's Response To Oil Spill As Trial Begins

The destruction on the Gulf Coast from the 2010 BP oil spill put thousands out of work. With a civil trial underway to determine BP's liability, Louisiana fisherman George Barisich, a board member of the GO FISH coalition, joined HuffPost Live to talk about the situation Wednesday. Barisich told host Mike Sacks that "right now my oyster production is down 93%... shrimp production is down at least 40% in my area." Beyond the direct impact on his pocketbook, Barisich spoke of his frustration over the massive PR campaign that BP has launched since the oil spill.

"When you see those 200 million dollars worth of BP commercials, all the facts are not coming out. The Gulf is sick and we're hurting," said Barisich. "It's a spin. And our government's been letting them spin it. That's what's killing us."

"All of BP's money and all President Obama's men will never put the Gulf together again" concluded Barisich.
