Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can't seem to avoid questions about her potential presidential run in 2016. In a Wednesday interview with ABC's Robin Roberts at the Ford Foundation in New York City, Roberts decided to go off the beaten path and ask Clinton about whom she would pick as a vice presidential running mate.
“Were you to run for president in 2016, would you consider [Massachusetts Sen.] Elizabeth Warren or [San Antonio Mayor] Julian Castro as your running mate?" the "Good Morning America" anchor asked Clinton, in a question submitted from the audience.
Clinton was flattered, but refused to give any new hints on her presidential ambitions.
“Oh, my goodness,” Clinton responded. “I’ve been asked this question many different ways ... this is one of the cleverest."
"They're both extraordinary leaders and great political advocates for a lot of what needs to be done in our country, and I admire both of them greatly," Clinton said of the aforementioned rising stars in the Democratic Party.
Warren is a favorite of progressives because of her views on financial regulation and income inequality, and Castro gave the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2012.
As Roberts continued to prod Clinton about her 2016 aspirations, the former senator from New York reverted to talking about the importance of getting more women involved in politics, without mentioning herself specifically.
"No one feels it would be better to crack that glass ceiling than to have a woman as president -- many believe that should be you," Roberts said.
Clinton didn't give one inch.
"I think we should crack it also. I am 100 percent in favor of that. But I have nothing further to say about my path right now," she said.
Clinton also spoke about the "abominable" and "criminal" kidnapping of more than 300 girls in Nigeria, as well as the 2012 terrorist attack at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
"Hard Choices," Clinton's book about her tenure as secretary of state, is set to be released next month.
