To bring the public's attention to the plight of an often overlooked population, Austin, Texas nonprofit Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) used a unique approach: a billboard along a major freeway. The I Am Here campaign aimed to literally "raise the visibility" of the local homeless community.

I'm happy to report that there is a great ending to the story HuffPost Impact reported on Danny Silver, an out-of-work construction worker, busy caring for his disabled wife. Austin residents responded by texting "Danny" to 20222, to give a $10 donation. Within a few days, MLF collected the 1,200 donations needed to get Danny and Maggie Silver their home.
