Hope, This Morning's Dream

Hope does not wait for a sign.
Hope is the sign:
Beckon courage.
Soothe fear.
Kindle passion.
Build resolve.
Gather every soul
until we are a million strong,
until we are enough.

Hope moves fire and river and mountain
and the weary feet of pilgrims,
soldiers
and dancers with tambourines .

Hope
is a helping hand,
a word spoken,
a song sung
and a wind at our backs.

Hope,
fellow traveller,
this morning's dream,
just opening our eyes.
