YouTuber Nicko's Kitchen beautifully demonstrates how to make this specialty in the video above. For starters, you'll need some ground beef, an egg, salt, pepper and the accoutrements of your choosing.
Once you have all of the ingredients, begin by mixing up your favorite burger recipe. Roll and flatten into a proper patty, about half an inch thick.
Next, take the rim of a glass and press it into the center of the rounded patty. This will cut out a perfectly-shaped circle in which your egg will cook. You can add the remaining munchkin piece of meat back to your mixture if you're making a few burgers, Nicko says, or freeze and save for a later date.
Cook your donut-shaped patty in a skillet on medium heat for about 4 to 5 minutes. Once one side is cooked thoroughly, flip.
After that, it's egg time. First break an egg into a ramekin or small bowl. This will ensure that the yolk is intact -- especially important for those who want runny yellows. Gently pour the egg into the cut-out section of the burger.
Allow the egg to cook until the whites are solidified. If you do enjoy a runny yolk, remove the burger from the pan once the whites are fully formed. If you prefer your yolk more on the solid side, let it cook for longer.
