Hunter Pence Slides For No Reason: Phillies Outfielder Has Mental Lapse (VIDEO)

Phillies Player Slides At Third...For No Reason

It appears that Hunter Pence had a momentary lapse last night and thought he was back playing for the lowly Astros.

During a strange play in the bottom of the second inning of the Phillies game against the Diamondbacks, John Mayberry Jr. singled to center field. Pence, who was on second base, appeared to have the opportunity to easily score as a result of the hit.

But as he approached third base, Pence appeared to slide into the base for no reason, before quickly getting up and scoring on the play. The announcers chalked up the dive to Pence falling, but that looked an awful lot like a mistaken slide to us.

While those type of mistakes are basically a metaphor for the Astros organization (minus the scoring part), Pence better be more focused if he plans on helping the National League favorite Phillies win a World Series.
