InStyle Newsstand Sales Soar For Crucial March Issue

InStyle Magazine Gets Some Great News

In a dreary month for fashion magazines, one title managed to buck the trend.

The newsstand sales numbers for the March editions of the glamorous print set are in, and for most magazines, things were not looking so good. Allure? Down 28 percent from last year. Elle? Down 25 percent. Marie Claire? Down almost 23 percent. That's a big problem; March and September are the fashion world's biggest months, and the magazines go all out to sell the most copies. (There's a whole movie about it you may have seen.)

However, over at InStyle, they must have been doing cartwheels. The magazine, which put Jennifer Aniston on its cover, saw a whopping 16.8 percent increase in sales. Is this one more testimonial to the power of Aniston? (The issue did promise her dish on "Justin, jeans and the workout plan that keeps her so hot," after all.) Or was it the spread about 50 amazing shoes that did the trick? Whatever it was, something clearly clicked.

Glamour and W will also have been cheered by their figures — both saw increases.
