The New York Post made a prison rape joke in its front page headline Thursday about fired Subway pitchman Jared Fogle, who plans to plead guilty to a slew of sex charges against minors.
"Enjoy a footlong in jail," the headline reads, playing on the Subway sandwich that helped make the disgraced spokesman a household name.
Fogle faces up to 12 years in prison after agreeing to plead guilty to charges of possessing child pornography, and traveling to buy sex from minors, federal prosecutors, who identified 14 victims, said Wednesday.
He will also pay a total of $1.4 million in restitution to his victims.
Mediaite observed that perhaps the Post didn't get the president's memo that people should stop joking about prison rape.
The New York Post also reported on a game featured on Subway's kids' website that "lets kids play with Jared Fogle's pants." The object of the game, which was live on the site at the time of the plea deal announcement but has since been removed, was to use Fogle's jeans to catch sandwiches and bottles of water for points.
